Day 1: Depart the U.S. for Portugal.
Day 2: Lisbon, Portugal: Arrive in Lisbon, Portugal's lively capital city where you will be met by your guide and escorted to your hotel.
Situated on the Tagus River, the legendary port city of Lisbon is built on seven steep hills overlooking the harbor. En-route to your hotel, enjoy a
panoramic city tour of Lisbon. Get an authentic taste of Lisbon in only a few hours. Drive through one of the main Avenues of the city, till Rossio square,
in the heart of the city, with a stop for wine tasting in a handicraft shop. Proceeding along the riverside to enjoy Praça do Comercio - ex libris of Lisbon
and one of the Tagus Bridge, till Belem quarter, dedicated to the discoveries. Then have a unique opportunity to visit the church of Jerónimos, masterpiece
of the Manuelin style and the coach Museum, which exhibits the world largest collection. Finally, a panoramic view of Belem tower and the Monument of the
discoveries, built to celebrate the 500 years of death of D.Henrique, "the navigator". Before leaving Belem, visit the "Pasteis de Belém" Pastry Shop to
taste the delicious and traditional "Pastel de Nata", served warm with sugar and cinnamon on top (Pateis not included). Enjoy free time for lunch on your
own before going to the hotel. (wine tasting)
Day 3: Lisbon/Turcifal: After breakfast depart for a full day tour of Sintra/Cascais/Estoril. Depart in direction of Sintra, a charming
village classified as a World Heritage site; Sintra was the delirium of many writers and poets in the 18th Century and also the summer residence of the
Portuguese Royal Family. Visit to the Royal Palace (the Palacio da Vila; closed on Wednesday), substituted for Queluz Palace (closed on Tuesdays) with
its fabulous kitchen and chimneys, and a finest collection of "Mugdejar" tiles in Portugal. It possesses a mixture of styles that gives an incomparable
aspect to it. In Sintra we stop to lunch (on your own). Take some free time to walk in the streets of the village to appreciate the several antiques and
handicraft shops, restaurants and tea-rooms to taste the so well delicious tarts known as "queijadas". This afternoon, depart for Colares, for a wine
tasting (when available). This region is demarcated and recognized for its table wines. Continue to Cabo da Roca, the most western point in continental
Europe, passing the beach of Guincho to Boca do Inferno, viewing the sea and the landscape. Arrive in Cascais, where we take in a glimpse of the fishing
port. See the Estoril Coast, where we can have a panoramic view of the Casino and its gardens. Continue on to the motorway in direction to Loures
Turcifal and overnight at the Westin Campo Real. (Breakfast)
Day 4: Turcifal: Today, learn about the regional cooking of Portugal. Enjoy an afternoon cooking class at your hotel in their gourmet
restaurant Grande Escolha. Indulge in your creations for lunch. The afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or explore on your own.

Day 5: Turcifal/Calheiros: After breakfast (early morning) depart to Ponte de Lima via Obidos/ Coimbra. Drive in direction to Obidos and
take a walking tour in the magnificent walled town known as the 'Town of Queens' because of a tradition in which kings used to offer the place to their
wives. The town boasts some lovely churches. In days gone by these were built when queens gave birth to a child. The graceful castle is now a Pousada.
The town is stunning, full of well-preserved white houses with Manueline porticos and flower-laden window boxes; sinuous streets with romantic recesses;
arcades and small squares. Explore the best of it on your walking tour (takes approximately 1½ hours). Continue north passing by Alcobaça, an architectural
masterpiece and arrive in Coimbra. After lunch on your own, take a small tour of Coimbra and visit the University (the tour of Coimbra will take place after
or before lunch depending on the time available). Coimbra is one of Europe's oldest university towns, it has kept its secular academic traditions, as seen
in the black-caped students, in the soulful tones of the "Fado de Coimbra" (traditional song sung to the sound of guitars, by the students) and in the Queima
das Fitas, a boisterous celebration of the students' graduating year. Visit the ruins of the ancient roman town, famous by its wonderful mosaics. Continue
north strait to Paço de Calheiros and check into the hotel for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 6: Calheiros: This morning, visit Ponte de Lima. Ancient walled town, Ponte de Lima is an interesting and unavoidable destination in
Alto Minho. Stop to admire the medieval bridge and its fifteen ogee arches. Then come the Towers of São Paulo and Cadeia; between them you can still see the
remains of the old town's walls. Sun-tanned land, shaped in granite from Arga Mountains, Ponte de Lima is a town bursting with History, art and natural beauty,
with rustic features and our common heritage. When we talk about Ponte de Lima we cannot forget to mention that this town developed from an "ancient" Roman
way built under Augustus and was named after a bridge (ponte). After "uncovering" the five arches of the northern end of the bridge, where the army of
"Pax Augusta" crossed over, this Roman medieval bridge became even more valuable. Visit to Largo de Camoes - Ponte de Lima was and is included in the Routes
to Santiago. Today, lunch is Paco de Calheiros; Dinner is at Casa do Barreiro. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 7: Calheiros: After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a full day tour to the Minho; the northwest region of Portugal that offers natural
green sceneries and the sparkling "green wine". Starting by Guimarães - the cradle of the nation, birthplace of the first king of Portugal, where, walking
along the historic center, for moments one is plunged back into medieval times. Visit the Sacred Hill, crowned by the Castle, as well the Palace of the Dukes
of Bragança, which original building dates back to the 15th centuries. Lunch is at the Manor House. After lunch, drive to Braga, known as the "Portuguese Rome"
for its concentration of religious architecture, and as the oldest Cathedral of the country. See the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary with its famous baroque
stairway and gardens. Afterwards, continue to Barcelos, an historical city rich in popular handicraft where the Galo de Barcelos (the rooster of Barcelos)
legend was born becoming, the rooster, a Portuguese icon. Tonight, dinner is at Casa de Sezim. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 8: Calheiros/Porto: Depart for Porto, Portugal's second largest city and whose name is eternally linked with the aged, fortified wines
produced along the banks of the Douro River. En route, have a panoramic view of picturesque Viana do Castelo. Visit the beautiful and mysterious city of Porto,
one of the most ancient cities of Europe with plenty of historic and cultural memories. Take a unique and unforgettable tour through the "Bairro da Sé", the
heart of ancient Porto. We end this unforgettable tour in the famous wine cellar "Caves Croft", in the historical heart of Vila Nova De Gaia in an atmosphere
that will take you in a journey to the past. Return to the hotel for overnight. (Breakfast)
Day 9: Porto/U.S.: Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (Breakfast)
